At 1278 St-Mathieu, (i.e. south west corner at St-Mathieu and St-Catherine), there is a mural called “L’avenir prévisible” (The Foreseeable Future), created in 2017 by “Earth Crusher from the A’Shop Collective”l.
This is one of many murals in the area that was produced by Éco-quartier Peter-McGill, and here is the translated description: “Despite industrial progress and residential development, we need to have a natural and sane environment. In this mural, the artist tries to illustrate the co-existing worlds of nature and industry.”
The A’Shop does a lot of murals in Montreal and have a very interesting website at: http://www.ashop.ca/
Directly across St-Mathieu Street you will find a tree lined alley with some wonderfully large murals painted on the backside of the Faubourg.
Continuing west on St-Catherine to 1822, we see the following mural beside Seoul Chako Korean Barbecue ; I’m sure it is a dig at some rivalry…
